Scientist - Analytical Development

Position Overview:

As a Scientist in the Analytical Development (AD) team, you will play a vital role in the development of our innovative therapies. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, you'll contribute to the development and validation of key analytical methods. Your achievements will be pivotal for guiding decisions that drive process development and optimization, and for ensuring regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design detailed experimental plans, including clear objectives, rationales, methodologies, data analysis strategies, and defined deliverables.

  • Conduct hands-on experiments and ensure accurate, real-time data collection.

  • Analyze complex analytical data, prepare comprehensive reports, and provide insights to support multidisciplinary teams.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to facilitate technology transfers and implement relevant analytical methods from research to clinical stages.

  • Author, review, and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and compliance.

  • Contribute to the qualification and validation of analytical methods, ensuring adherence to regulatory guidelines.

  • Keep abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in analytical method development.

  • Mentor junior team members and promote a culture of scientific excellence within the Analytical Development team.

  • Collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams, encouraging open communication and fostering a positive and productive environment.

  • Support the operation and maintenance of key equipment and instrumentation, ensuring optimal performance.

  • Actively participate in workplace safety initiatives and adhere to policies, taking on relevant roles to ensure compliance.

  • Drive continuous improvement by refining workflows and optimizing team processes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or M.Sc. in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, or a related field.

  • Extensive hands-on experience with human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) maintenance, expansion, and differentiation protocols.

  • Strong analytical skills to develop, troubleshoot, and optimize analytical methods and assays.

  • Proficiency in developing and validating analytical methods for cell characterization, including techniques such as flow cytometry, ELISA, qPCR, digital PCR, and functional assays.

  • Proven ability to qualify assays for specificity, sensitivity, accuracy, precision, linearity, and robustness.

  • Knowledge of statistical models for qualification, including Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and regression analysis.

  • Clear understanding of the distinctions between assay qualification and full validation, particularly in early-stage cell therapy development.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Preclinical, and Quality groups.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present findings clearly through oral presentations and technical reports.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with suspension cultures, bioreactors, and organoid systems.

  • Expertise in hepatocyte differentiation and characterization.

  • Experience with functional assays to assess iPSC-derived hepatocyte progenitor cell activity (e.g., albumin secretion, urea synthesis, and CYP450 activity).

  • Knowledge of imaging techniques, including confocal microscopy and immunofluorescence.

  • Experience in omics-based profiling methods, such as transcriptomics, proteomics, or metabolomics, for characterizing iPSC-derived cells.

  • Expertise in statistical software and methods (e.g., JMP, GraphPad, or R) for evaluating assay performance and reproducibility.

  • Application of Design of Experiment (DoE) principles to optimize assay conditions and identify critical parameters affecting assay performance.

  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements for assay qualification, including guidelines from the FDA, EMA, and ICH (e.g., ICH Q2(R1) for analytical method validation).
